Dr. Lukas Wartman was devastated when he found out that he was subjected to very cancer he spent his career studying. But he was lucky to be at the right place at the right time as his associate director and colleagues at the university was determined to find a solution for his condition. They sequenced the genes of both his healthy and cancer cells to compare and were able to find the culprit gene that was producing huge amounts of protein, which was the reason behind cancer’s growth. Even better, there was a promising new drug for kidney cancer that might shut down in the malfunctioning gene. This gave him hope and since then his cancer is in remission(reducing).
